Outdoor Classroom & Storybook Garden
Where Nature Become the Teacher
At Storybook Cottage, learning doesn’t only happen inside the classroom. Our Outdoor Classroom provides children with daily opportunities to explore, discover, and learn through nature.
Children are naturally curious about the world around them. By spending time outdoors, they develop a deeper connection to nature while building important skills in science, problem solving, creativity, and independence.
Our outdoor learning spaces are designed to inspire exploration, imagination, and hands-on discovery.
Learning Through Nature
In our outdoor classroom, children might be found:
ðą Planting seeds and caring for garden beds
ð Observing butterflies, insects, and worms
ðŧ Exploring our Storybook Garden
ðŠī Watering plants and learning how things grow
ð Enjoying story time in the garden
ðĻ Creating nature-inspired art
ð Investigating rocks, leaves, and natural materials
Every outdoor experience encourages children to ask questions, make discoveries, and develop a love of learning.
Montessori-Inspired Outdoor Learning
Our outdoor environment follows the same philosophy as our classrooms—children learn best through hands-on experiences and meaningful work.
Children participate in real activities such as gardening, caring for plants, and exploring nature with guidance from their teachers. These experiences help children build responsibility, confidence, and respect for the natural world.
The Storybook Garden
A special part of our outdoor classroom is our Storybook Garden, where beloved children’s stories inspire garden spaces filled with flowers, vegetables, and pollinator plants.
Children explore garden areas inspired by favorite books while learning about plant life cycles, insects, and the beauty of the natural world.
This magical space brings together literacy, nature, and imagination.
Why Outdoor Learning Matters
